This Online class is an introduction to the field of humanities through an enjoyable study of culture and art. We will begin with prehistoric and ancient artistic expression, study the artistic development of the human body through the classical Greco-Roman period, review the beauty of early Christian paintings, the colorful mosaics of the Byzantine craftsmen, and the geometric calligraphy of the Islamic artist. We will continue with the search for relics during the Carolingian period and marvel at the change from Romanesque to the great Gothic Cathedrals. Completing our study in the Renaissance age which ushers in one of the greatest periods of artistic history. All within the historical context with which it happened.
